CREEPY Crawl Frequently Asked Questions
Back to the CREEPY Crawl Main Page
Q. I've been on tours before where there were way too many people, we couldn't hear any stories and it took forever before we could get a drink. How many people do you take on your tour?
A. Our committment to our guests is that we guarantee small tours of about 15 people or less. By City ordinance, St. Augustine walking tours are allowed to take up to 25 guests. But we feel, as you stated, that too many would take away from your experience, so we limit our tours to only 15 guests per tour. It can be quite difficult to move a larger crowd in and out of some of the pubs, and whilst our company would certainly profit more from taking larger groups - we feel it's just not worth your disappointment!
Q. We've booked tours before that were cancelled at the last minute because of minimum reservations not being met. What is your policy on this?
A. We don't really have a 'minimum' . The CREEPY Crawl will operate with only 2 full ticket participants - so no worries here! Sometimes, these 'very small' tours end up as some of our (and our guests) favourites, because they are more like a private tour - it's ALL about you!
Q. Will we see ghosts on the CREEPY Crawl?
A. If we told you that you would absolutely see a ghost, we'd be lying. Spectacular full scale appearances are very rare but do and have occurred. Many people that work at some of our Local Haunts have actually experienced some things and will be glad to share these with you. Strange, weird and unexplainable occurrences are experienced by individual guests. Stay alert as often spirits linger at the edge of the darkness at the sites visited, studying the groups themselves.
However there is no guarantee that you will definitely see a ghost or even feel a presence. Encounters with the Other Side tend to be experienced by individual clients rather than by an entire group. Spirits choose whom they will reveal themselves to carefully and deliberately. If you expect to see one, you may be disappointed. The dead are not circus animals forced to appear and perform for the Living for a price. Besides, if we did choose to force these things to appear on cue then we would have to charge a lot more than we do and no-one would want to pay the price they would demand.
Q. Are the stories real or just made up?
A. Everything that we tell you is the true history of the area or the building that we will be visiting. We have more respect for our guests than to tell them a bunch of made up stories just because they might be entertaining. Our feeling is that the truth is just as entertaining and even more so than the fiction that other tours may tell.
Q. Are the sites visited really haunted?
A. Many of the Local Haunts that we will visit have had paranormal investigations done and we will share the findings with you on your tour. There have also been some incedents at some of the places that we will visit and we will share those stories with you as well.
Q. Will people jump out at me on the tour?
A. Sorry, that is not on our tour. Our guides will tell you the true history and stories of the places that you visit. We feel that the truth is enough to CREEP you out.
Q. Should we tip our tour guide?
A. Tips are not included in your tour price as with some other tours. It is customary to tip your tour guide if your enjoyed your tour. Please check out our Tour Tip Guideline for reccomendations.
Q. What if it rains, will you cancel the tour?
A. Absolutely NOT! Our motto is "There is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriately drressed people." Bring a brolly or rain poncho, if rain is in the forecast - but if the rain sneeks up on us at the last minute, we usually have an extra brolly or two to loan you. We would only cancel a scheduled tour in the event of severe weather - deadly lightening, gale winds, or subfreezing temperatures ( yes, we know it's Florida, but they don't call us NORTH Florida for nothing!). Otherwise, some of our best tours have occured amidst jumping over rain puddles!
Q. We want to bring our adult son with us, but he isn't 21 - he is only 19. Can he come on the tour if he doesn't drink?
A. The scheduled tour is not compatible for anyone under 21 however, but we are happy to book you on a private tour (call us for the VERY affordable details!) if you have younger teens.
Q. My friend is turning 21 next weekend, and we want to reserve 8 spots on the tour to really celebrate the occasion- is there a discount?
A. We offer group rates on 10 or more people, but honestly, this is not a power drinking kind of tour - which is what most '21st Birthday' celebrations become. We would discourage you from attending The CREEPY Crawl in the best interests of all our guests, and not to disappoint your expectations. We believe that another choice of celebration would be more suited for you.
Q. I'm already in St. Augustine - where can I go to purchase a CREEPY Crawl ticket in person?
A. The CREEPY Crawl tickets can only be purchased at our ticket/information booth at 23 Orange St. betwwen 10am - 8pm, or you may purchase our tickets at Ann O'Malley's Irish Pub at the same location. To maintain quality control of our limited availability, no other tour company can sell you our tickets. Of course, you may still phone us for reservations! If you have already purchased your tickets in advance, you may collect your tickets at the City Walks ticket booth, 23 Orange St. any time/day prior to your tour date.
